07/20/19 CARNAL REJECTION OF DIVINE ATTRIBUTES
Jesus is loving, compassionate, tender, merciful, kind, gentle, patient, but also righteous, just and uncompromising.
People say and sing, "Oh How I Love Jesus," but in fact, they would not even like Him if they met Him. He would be "too nice" and also "too demanding," for them. I know they would not like Him because they are repulsed by others who have any of these traits and they refuse these traits in their own lives.
These seemingly "contradictory characteristics" are actually "complimentary traits,"of God. It is not that these traits don't go together, it is simply that people do not understand the Old or New Testaments and therefore do not understand Divine nature, either in God, Himself, or in those who are regenerated and conformed to the image of Jesus. Being tough and tender is Christlike. The carnal counterfeit is to be pejorative and pollyannaish.
