11/30/19 YES, WE CAN ADD TO IT, BY GOD'S HELP
People constantly tell us that we cannot add to our salvation. God tells us to add a lot of things to our salvation (1 Peter 1:3-11).
NOT SALVATION BY WORKS BUT SALVATION THAT WORKS
2 Peter 1:3-11
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

I realize that there is a nuance in the Greek word, which is translated, "add," but the point is that believers are to be actively cooperating with the grace of God. Salvation is a mutual relationship between God and man. Sadly, some folks read this to mean that I am saying we create our own salvation. Salvation is not even possible without God's initiative, mercy, love, grace and His work of atonement. No, we don't create our own salvation, but we do choose to receive or reject the salvation of God, and as believers we do or don't improve that salvation, based on our willingness to walk in the light that God imparts to us.

It is interesting to watch people, who mistakenly see themselves as being more knowledgeable, informed, understanding and wise, strutting around and showing off their brilliance to the less enlightened doormats of society.
Not only do the worldly wise proceed with assurance and arrogance, they refuse any instruction or insight from those they consider to be their "lessers." This is true in the spiritual realm as well as the academic, pragmatic and cultural realms.
Grace wants to impart insight through the portal of humility, but pride slams the door shut, shackling the proud in chains of darkness, not knowing that they are imprisoned in the dungeon of deception.

While attending a Bball game at a nearby Baptist church, i saw a series of church job ops. Here are photos of those ops.
This points out the need of most churches. Though our church ministry is much smaller, we have needs for qualified, dedicated workers as well.
Too many churches are just sitting in nice buildings, either because they do not have a vision to reach their community or because they lack the people who will do the work.

..., I agree. I have gone into bars of various kinds in order to witness for Christ, and with good responses. But I was hinting that relatively few folks in that setting either have a serious exchange about Jesus and some folks actually become belligerent with others who even mention Jesus.
HOWEVER, it is not strange to hear excited and constant talk about sports or work or politics in a "church" building or setting. There is often more interest in sports, whether in a sports bar or a "church" gathering than there is Jesus.
I was just wanting to nudge some sober thinking about the things people focus on.

I always drink Wine when I am witnessing (or not); THE NEW WINE OF THE SPIRIT to be exact.
The more of the Spirit I drink, the more clearly I think and the more intelligibly I speak.
I never have to worry about doing something that might lead another person into a destructive habit.
I can always recommend a Holy Spirit high without the danger of bad side effects.
My commitment to a Holy Spirit high never encouraged anyone to over indulge in other spirits.
In fact, I encourage people to get addicted to the Holy Spirit and delivered from the influence and addiction of other spirits.
The Holy Spirit builds families; evil spirits destroy families.
The Holy Spirit makes better fathers, mothers and witnesses than evil spirits make.
Anyone can get too much of other spirits, but no one can get too much of the Holy Spirit.
When my Holy Spirit filled conversation (witnessing meeting) is over, I am fully aware that I have not put a stumbling block before the person, with whom I was talking, or any onlookers or any of their family. In other words, no one can ever say that they drank alcohol because they saw me drink it. God tells us to abstain from all appearance of evil, because we can be a cause of others falling.
There are so many people who suffer because of drugs today (whether they drink it, smoke it, snort it, shoot it, huff it or whatever) that I do all I can to lead people away from a destroyer that is attacking millions of homes in America.
We all know that alcohol carnally loosens lips, removes restraints, mixes up the mind, all too often leads to broken relationships, ruined lives and unspeakable sins. The Holy Spirit does not do those things. The Holy Spirit builds, restores, enlightens and He leads us into holiness of heart and life. NOT SO WITH ALCOHOL.
I mention this because the unspoken plague and the unnamed demon that is destroying our country is ALCOHOL.
I choose to socialize without the "help" of any booze. I choose to get an eternal high that glorifies God. I choose to lead others away from that which is the devil's tool.
I realize no one asked for this little tirade, but you are welcome anyway.

I know that FB erroneously blocks legitimate posts, supposedly for violating Community Standards, simply because of "buzz words," because they have done that with me. Actually, they blocked mine though my post was just the opposite of their accusation. But it was the use of a specific word. My point is, FB (and other social media) use their power to control free speech. 1 Peter 1:5 Who *(believers) *are kept *by the power of God *through faith *unto salvation ready to be *revealed in the last time.

*#1 This PROMISE IS MADE TO BELIEVERS, which is made clear in the previous two verses.

Son of Man was a title Jesus used to identify Himself, more than any other
"LIKE" the Son of man
Daniel 7:13
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
This title is primarily and foundationally used in reference to any and all humans.
Ezekiel used the title, "son of man" in reference to himself (over 90 times) but Daniel used it prophetically in reference to Jesus.
Daniel used it prophetically in reference to the end times appearance and presence of God the Son, when He returns to earth as the conquering King to subdue all of His enemies and set up His kingdom.
Jesus referred to Himself by this title more than any other title.
When Daniel used it, he said, LIKE the Son of Man. In other words, In the appearance of a man. But everything in the account indicates the Deity of the Person (as understood by Old Testament and New Testament Jews and as attested to by Jesus and John in the book of Revelation).
This "Son of Man" came into the vision on or in the clouds. Riding the clouds was associated with God (Jews) and gods (pagans). The resurrected Jesus visibly left this world in the clouds and will visibly return in the clouds (whatever "clouds" means).
This same Son of Man was given dominion of all nations, tongues, people and nations. This is the description of the coming reign of Jesus Christ, at the end of the Tribulation.
The point which Daniel was making is that God would come in the likeness of man, as a Man. Jesus was the Seed of the woman, a Human, but not the Offspring of a human father. Jesus was God in the flesh, God with us, God the Son (the Son of God) Who became the Son of Man.
Jesus used this title to declare His deity.
It was the Son of man Who had power on earth to forgive sins (Mt. 9:6).
It would be the Son of man Who would return to earth (Mt. 10:23).
It is the Son of man Who is Lord of the Sabbath (Mt. 12:8).
It will be the Son of Man Who sends forth His angels to gather men from the nations, and then He will cast them into a furnace of fire, forever (Mt. 13:41-42).
Jesus used this title to introduce Himself as the Son of the Living God and the Head of the Church (Mt. 16:13-8).
It will be as the Son of man that Jesus will return in the glory of His Father, with angels to judge and reward everyone according to their deeds (which is Divine judgment and authority).
After God (the Father) called Jesus His beloved Son (on mount of transfiguration), Jesus declared Himself to be the Son of man, Who would be raised from the dead.

I talked to my Sunday School class today about the plan, the will and the power that comes with entire sanctification to implement the changes God wants to bring into our lives (attitudes, affections, amusements, affiliations, actions). Though the primary purpose of entire sanctification is to deliver believers from the sinful nature (carnal mind, the old man, double minded, the flesh, evil heart of unbelief, root of bitterness, as it is called in the Bible), we are then enabled to progress in our walk with God. We are able to make changes, we are able to eliminate the negative and accentuate the positive by the fullness of the Spirit of God, in a holy and blameless heart.
All of the people who have grown to true spiritual maturity had to experience heart purity first. Purity of heart is a work of salvation, maturity is a walk of obedience.
Hey, though I was justified and sanctified wholly by faith, I have had to follow Jesus if I wanted to remain faithful, which is essential to remaining saved. I have had to change things in my life, therefore young Christians need to do the same. Like it or not younger Christians need to honor, seek, listen and follow the counsel of older, who have become wiser because they have experienced God's leading and teaching. If the younger ones do not honor and submit to the seasoned saint, they are trying to live the Christian life in a different way than God has planned.
If the younger one eventually comes to the same point of view as the older Christian, think of all the time they wasted by not doing the Biblical thing (honoring, submitting and obeying their spiritual leaders, including Christian parents, and pastors) from the beginning. On the other hand, if the younger one does not come to the same conclusions concerning Biblical living as the mature and pure believer, then the younger one has been duped, misled into a false direction, therefore moving away from the revelation of God.

Don't confuse HOLINESS of heart and life with rules and regulation religion. Yes, there is a moral standard that goes with HOLINESS, but holiness is not just a moral standard or a set of values (regardless of how laudable or time honored they may be).
Don't confuse Holiness with religious practices (whether or not they are Biblically based).
Holiness of heart is the purifying of the heart by the infilling and indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Holiness of life is a life lived in total surrender to Jesus Christ.

We're not called to keep O.T. laws and feasts.
We're not able to understand all prophecy.

The Old Testament is God's word, but it was God's revelation to Israel, pointing forward to the time of Christ and the New Testament. We are not under the sacrificial, dietary, feast, ceremonial laws of Israel.
We can learn truth from the O.T. but we are not suppose to be "O.T. Christians" (since there is no such thing).
End Time prophecies are God's revelation too, and given to us as a comfort and encouragement. However, we cannot understand all of the End Time events at this time, nor are we expected to understand it all. Prophecy becomes clearer as we get closer to its fulfillment.
There are prophecies that we can understand and should understand. God revealed future events, but we are not called to make those prophecies come true. We are expected to live in anticipation of the Return of Christ (Rapture).
The problem is that people want to form their salvation experience around O.T. revelation or End Times revelation, and they neglect or abandon sound N.T. revelation. Their choice to live in the Shadows and Speculations rob them of the Substance. Christians are often led to think that Shadows and Speculation is more important that Substance.
