*But God will save us from our sins and from our inclination to sin.

*Jesus forgives and gives new life to those who trust Him for salvation from their sins.

08/20/19 JESUS IS GOD'S REVELATION OF HIMSELF AND HIS WILL
 
The Best revelation of God is through Christ and the N. Test. and shows us His standards for being, thinking, speaking and behaving.

(I was only going to quote vss. 1-4, but I included the entire chapter, vss. 1-14, because it expresses the uniqueness of Jesus so powerfully.)
Hebrews 1:1-14
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

IN FACT, in the Book of Hebrews we are shown that Jesus is better than, more excellent than the Old Testament revelation, as it came from God through; Angels, Moses & Joshua, Sabbath Rest, Aaron & High Priest of the Temple, Old (Testament) Covenant, Sacrifice, Ministry, Salvation.

The Church is built on the revelation of God through Jesus and the New Testament writers.
Ephesians 2:18-22
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Though I posted this three years ago, it underscores my post from yesterday about being a High Performance follower of Christ.

When a church is Biblical, it performs like a well oiled machine.

DON'T GET WORRIED.
I did not say the church is a mechanical operation, a soulless robot, a heartless organization

The church is a living organism, a spiritual body, a passionate assembly. But it is like a machine in the sense that it is made up of various, diverse, moving parts dedicated to a common purpose, joined together and meshed together to work in concert, while avoiding destructive friction through the anointing of God's Holy Spirit.

Even a small Spirit filled church accomplishes great things, beyond the abilities of massive organizations. I encourage you to be part of such a local body and make certain that you give your best effort, in unity with the other believers.

Then tighten your seat belt, because the ride is about to get exciting.

In my comment below I give nine thoughts that need to be considered by serious Christians.
Take a deep breath. Now read.

1/9 No major phase of U.S society reflects the Biblical values, morality, family or religious life of our Christian heritage.

2/9 Since late 1800s, Secular Humanism has infiltrated Public Schools in order to remove Christ and His word from America's children.

3/9 Humanism (structure, leadership, rules, goals) is dedicated to silence and remove Biblical and family values from Public Schools.

4/9 Sincere and loving Christian educators are no longer free to lift or share Christ. Working in the system no longer works.

5/9 It is time to abandon the sinking ship of Humanistic schooling and man the Life boats of aggressive Christian education.

6/9 We should not be surprised at the ruin of Public Schools. Look at the rest of society, including liberalized churches.

7/9 Don't forget, the war is between light and dark, good and evil, right and wrong, truth and deception, God and sin.

8/9 I do NOT favor Humanistic Public School prayer or Bible classes, which will be led by, who knows who, or what?
GET REAL.

9/9 Look at what Public (Humanistic, Liberal, Progressive) Education has produced in our modern society.

Young people, there's nothing more important to learn than God's word, The Holy Bible.
Fill your Mind, Soul, Life with it.

I realize that the words, Mind, Soul and Life are often used interchangeably, but I am using each one distinctly.

Mind is in reference to your mental capabilities. Employ your brain in the study of God's revelation. Order your life so that you have the energy to read, concentrate on God's word. Take care of your health, expand your knowledge with information appropriate to the study of The Holy Bible.

Soul is in reference to your inner man. The truth of God should saturate your whole self, including your inner self. Your inner self is your Reason, Desire, Emotion, Conscience and Will. The word of God is not concerned only with knowledge about the natural, but also about the supernatural. There is a spiritual quality as well as an informational quality in God's revealed truth.

Life is in reference to the daily, social, outward life we live. God's word should impact and influence our behavior, relationships, pursuits, values, commitments.

See, I can be concise.

Sometimes I want to share a really great idea (at least I think it is great), but as I mull it over it reminds me of something else and it gets longer and better and more complicated, so I realize I need to make it more concise; then I try to whittle it down (i.e. "make it shorter,") but as I do I realize (another realization in this one, short sentence, wow) that I can't be concise and thorough at the same time.

Thus, my three thoughts about chickens, in one concise sentence.

Sometimes it takes some time to explain some things. One of the first questions a dear old church member (who came from from two centuries ago) asked me when he heard I was going to be his pastor, "Arr ye long winded?"

THE VERSE BEFORE THE LOVE CHAPTER
This verse leads straight into 1 Corinthians 13, which describes agape' (Gr. self denying love).
1 Corinthians 12:31
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

THE VERSE AFTER THE LOVE CHAPTER
This verse resumes the importance of spiritual gifts, but restates the necessity of PURSUING love.
1 Corinthians 14:1
1 Follow after charity (*LOVE), and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

THE SAME WORD FOR LOVE IS USED IN THESE VERSES.
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

1 John 3:16
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

IN THIS PASSAGE, KJV TRANSLATES AGAPE' AS CHARITY AND LOVE.
In 1 Corinthians 8:1 the same Greek word is again mistranslated as "charity" in the KJV.
1 Corinthians 8:1-3
1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, *but charity (should be LOVE) edifieth.
2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
3 *But if any man love God (properly translated as LOVE), the same is known of him.

1/3 Sadly, KJV (1 Co. 13) translated weaker, "charity," (from Latin, "caritas") rather than "love," for the Greek word "agape."

IT IS "LOVE," NOT "CHARITY"

There are 24 times that the KJV, New Testament mistakenly uses "charity" instead of the proper translation "love."
The word, "love' always fits in each of the passages where the Greek word agape' is used, but the word "charity is not an acceptable substitute for "love."
Charity, as it is properly understood, is often a characteristic of love, but it is not equal to love.

KJV 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 with Love instead of Charity.
Notice vs. 3 actually refers to charity as being distinct from LOVE.
I use * to mark points.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not LOVE, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
