10/24/19 TOTAL DEPRAVITY'S SCOPE

Total Depravity should be understood in relationship to the extent of sin's impact rather than its degree of impact.

MAN IS REDEEMABLE

All of a man's nature and condition is depraved, corrupted, fallen. Some of man's nature and condition is redeemable and some of man's nature and condition is irredeemable.

All of a man's being (human nature) is fallen, corrupted and weakened because of Adam's sin.
All men (humans) are born with a redeemable and transformable Human Nature (the nature to be human).
None of a man's Sinful Nature is redeemable or transformable.

All men (humans) are redeemable through the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Fallen men (humans) can be redeemed and transformed by the salvation that is in Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.
The fallen, corrupted, Human Nature can be regenerated, cleansed, enabled and directed toward holiness of heart and life.
The Sinful Nature (Old Man, Double Mind) cannot be redeemed in any fashion, but must be crucified with Christ.

God, through His Holy Spirit delivers us from sin and corruption by *Regeneration of the human nature, *Purging of the sinful nature and *Enabling of our weakened, redeemed inner man.

Humanistic philosophy and psychology are unable to heal or solve man's fallen, corrupted human condition or deliver from sinful nature. The only hope for man's fallen, corrupted, depraved condition is through faith in the sacrificial death and physical resurrection of Christ.
