Old Testament
This list does not include the many places, which refer to rejoicing over the physical defeat of God's enemies. While it is a valid subject, it is very wide, and in fact, is worthy of its own study.

REJOICE IN THE CELEBRATIONS OF GOD
(see also De. 16)
Leviticus 23:40
40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.

REJOICE IN THE PLACE GOD PUTS YOU
Deuteronomy 12:7-8
*7 And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee.
8 Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

REJOICE IN YOUR GIVING TO GOD

Deuteronomy 26:10-11

1 Samuel 2:1

Isaiah 61:10

Matthew 5:10-12

Romans 5:1-5

3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

REJOICE IN GOD'S CALL AND WILL
Philippians 2:12-18

REJOICE IN EVERY SITUATION
James 1:9-12
*9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

1 Peter 4:12-14
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
*13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
