03/12/19 CLOSED MINDS

03/12/19 CLOSED MINDS

In all my years of seeing Confederate monuments, I never heard anyone honor them for slavery or mourn the loss of slavery.

EVER.

They better hurry. History use to be the kind of thing that hung around. But not anymore. It is not just about ignoring facts either. It is about revisionist wanting to control our thinking. The gender bender issue is a perfect example of people wanting to force their agenda on everyone.

Actually, I can almost say the same thing about the Confederate flag. Of course there were people who talked about slavery and some who even said bad things about black people. AND SOME OF THEM WERE FROM THE SOUTH. That is right, the sin of bigotry is not a Southern thing, it is a sin thing, which is North, East, West and South (NEWS to some folks). In fact, my observation does not support a predominantly Southern anti black mentality. Most of the backlash I have heard and seen in the South is against Nawthenuhs that falsely accuse all Southerners of being haters of black people.

Concerning the Confederate flag issue: there were probably some people who celebrated racial bigotry, BUT BY FAR, most of the people I knew who flew the flag did not support or agree with slavery. And no matter how many times you tell some folks what your position is, they always know more about your heart and mind than you do, so there is no real discussion with those folks.

I don't fight this fight much any more. An intellectual discussion involves open minded and honest exchange, which I do not find with people who are haters of the South and haters of Southerners, even if they themselves are Southerners
.

I was reflecting after my comment concerning the Confederate Flag, and I realized that most of the time, by far, that folks related the Confederate Flag to racism and slaver, were people who had a problem with the South and Southerners AND/OR they were people who did not actually know the facts of the War Between the States.
They did not know the truth about the right to secede;

The actual stance and attitude of Lincoln;
The aggressive taxation against the South (not be cause of slavery, but because of the financial advantage of slavery), the actual attitude of great numbers of Northerners concerning blacks;
The fact that Lincoln's Gettysburg Address was a tool of war against the South RATHER THAN an instrument to set all slaves free (because it did not set all slaves free);
The fact that the North also had some slaves (I hate the idea of American slavery, but I would not tear down the Union Flag);
The fallacy that over 600000 soldiers died in a war that was started over slavery; the false accusation that the President of the Confederacy was guilty of treason;
The fact that people unfairly and unjustly judge the lives of people from a different culture, different time in history, different level of understanding Scripture (yes, sin is sin, but some folks don't understand the nature of sin);
There were Confederate soldiers who did not own slaves or believe in slaves and there were Union soldiers who did not oppose slavery and in fact, owned slaves;
Slavery was practiced under the Confederate Flag for less than 5 years, but had been practiced under the US Flag for its entire history.

There is much more to say, but you get the point.
It is possible to hate slavery and be a lover of the South and it is possible to hate slavery but be a hater of anyone who does not think like you do.
