04/11/19 FALSE NARRATIVE
Liberals, Humanists, false prophets errantly believe that the Bible was transmitted as in the game, "Telephone."
When anti Bible people attack the credibility, reliability, authenticity, genuineness, authority, infallibility, inerrancy of the Bible, they attack a STRAW MAN, a NON REALITY, a false premise, an invented scenario, a lie.
They have to do this because scholarship does not agree with them. This is why faulty philosophies, fake religions, man following cults seek to discredit the Bible. They want to replace the Bible with their own religious texts.

I don't care if you don't eat bacon, but don't condemn it, then claim that drinking camel urine is good for your health.
I don't make this stuff up, y'all. These are the people that the Liberals want to get into bed with.
Oh, did I mention, "sin makes you stupid."

04/11/19 RECENT THOUGHTS AND AN ARTICLE I WROTE 9 YEARS AGO
A HARD COPY BIBLE IS IMPORTANT.
Here are some thoughts.
Recent
FIRST, I love my digital Bible because I love my Bible.
I use digital Bibles all the time. On my desktop, laptop, phone and tablet. In fact, it is not unusual for me to have more than one digital Bible going at the same time.
I use my digital Bible in conjunction with my hard copy Bible.
There is so much available, such as studies, geography, history, linguistics, commentary, translations, all at the touch of a button.
I use digital Bibles in my teaching, preaching, daily encounters with people. I can read my digital Bible while the lights are out or dim.
But here are some reasons that I would choose a hard copy Bible over a digital.
It is important to have a personal familiarity with your Bible. I have lots of Bibles, but sadly, many of them are in storage right now, so I just bought another "ministry Bible." I like to use a certain hard copy Bible in ministry; preaching, group study, witnessing. Though all Bibles have basically the same layout, they differ because of size and style of print, paper, format. Using a specific Bible as your companion or sword during combat gives you an advantage. The less you have to do to find your passage and to follow your thought, the better will be your presentation and your ability to engage someone in a meaningful exchange.
I can find my way around a strange city. I can find my way around a city, in which I use to work or live. But I can find my way around my hometown much more easily because I am familiar with all of the streets and alleys.
It is much easier to see and understand the context of a passage when using a hard copy than using a digital Bible.
A three dimensional Bible can be handled and physically navigated, whereas a digital Bible is always the same page in the same place, on your device. This helps my mind keep the narrative in three dimensional perspective. This also helps us remember the flow and the relationships of various Bible events, characters, passages.
Any Bible can be seized, lost, destroyed. But the digital world is dependent on so many variables. I prefer having God's word in my hand and under my control. I don't have to worry about power outage, internet piracy intrusion, social media or government banning of the internet, internet attacks.
I can write notes in my margin, use references, notes, personal outlines in a hard copy, much more effectively than a screen.
On my digital Bible, I have sometimes hit the wrong button and either detoured through a different location or I have actually broken my connection with my passage, and therefore had to take the time to start over again.
I am inclined to think that people are more likely to memorize from a hard copy Bible also. We become so dependent on digital info that most of us don't memorize as many phone numbers as we did prior to the digital world. If we depend on a digital Bible, we are less likely to commit Scripture to memory.
And again, it is important to know how the Bible is put together, from Genesis to Revelation, including the relative size of the books, which is hard to get with a digital Bible.
Don't forget. It is not just memorizing something one time, but using it over and over that gives us that companionship and mastery we need, in order to use our Bible in an effective way.
I actually use digital and hard copy in conjunction with one another.
THIS IS AN ARTICLE I WROTE IN 2010, CONCERNING THE SAME SUBJECT.
09/27/10 THE GIFT OF GOD'S WORD
I love the word of God & I love my paper and ink, leather Bible. While I love my electronic, cell phone (wireless) and computer Bibles (wish I had always had them), I would not trade my hard copy for all of the others.
IT'S LIKE MY OWN NEIGHBORHOOD
It is there every day, it is the same everyday, it has structure. No batteries, no service, no public airwaves. Turn those pages, learn those truths, write those notes. Hide it in your heart.
IT IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE
Yes, I do most of my study with an electronic Bible, I carry a Bible on my cell phone, I usually preach and teach from my cell phone Bible and notes. But I own my printed Bible outright. I do not have to worry about outages or servers being down or batteries being low or signals being weak or units getting fried by electrical interference. Even if it gets dropped in the water, it may swell up to twice the size, but it is still readable.
THREE DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURE
Structure is good. Seeing how the New is built on the Old and being able to travel the terrain rather than teleporting between passages. Feeling the distance between Enoch and Ezekiel, Adam and Jesus. Seeing, feeling, handling the amount of truth given to each section and grasping in your hand the relationship of Law and Grace, History and Prophecy, the First and Second Coming of Christ (Gospels and Revelation). Comparing Scripture with Scripture and knowing the layout like you know your on home. It is an important dimension to getting the whole picture.
OK, it is possible to lose my printed Bible, but the chances are less with printed than electronic. However, if we hide it in our hearts, we should never lose it.
By the way, this was not posted in order to get an argument, but rather to laud some benefits of the printed word of God. Could there be young people who will not become familiar with these benefits because they think they can replace it with electronics?
POINT FROM A MOVIE
Some time ago I saw the movie, THE BOOK OF ELI (with the use of a Clear Play, removing cursing and other objectionable material from the movie). Though this is obviously fictional, it did point out some interesting ideas. Strange how the world sometimes expresses greater respect for Sacred truths (the word of God for instance) than does the church. Think about how few "Christians" take a Bible to church. Think about how few read it on a daily basis. Think about how few memorize it.

04/11/19 OVER VIEW OF LAST EVENING'S STUDY SESSION
I used my "Essential Questions" (post) as starter for Study Time last night. Exercise in personal witness and Apologetics.
I focused the lesson on the young people. They jumped right in.
They said they knew they were saved.
I asked how they knew.
They went from, "the Bible says he saves," to, "God (Jesus) says so."
I agreed that God's word is the basis and authority, but I wanted them to tell me how they knew personally.
They responded with their own personal belief, faith.
I pointed out that the witness of God's word and our own faith gives us assurance.
I used my earlier post concerning God's steps in reliably giving us His word.
I added short comments (points) to what I had written.
As I addressed the REVELATION step I explained the Firsthand and Eyewitness importance of New Testament record. I also addressed the untold numbers of written (as well as oral accounts) of the life of Christ, and the Secondhand reports. I explained the validity of the sources and reports, being so well known by so many people. And then I focused on the fact that the New Testament writers were chosen, called, equipped and led (guided) by God concerning what to write, what not to write and how to write, what they wrote.
I addressed other issues as well, such as the importance of a hard copy Bible (rather than just a digital Bible).
I also addressed the fact that the message of the New Testament existed before the New Testament was written. This does not negate or lessen the authority of the New Testament.
I pointed out that the truth of God predated God's written record of the life, ministry, death, resurrection, ascension of Jesus and also predates the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the spread of the Gospel, the writings of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, James, Peter, Jude concerning the doctrines and events of the apostles, which is the foundation of New Testament and Christian beliefs.
I also pointed out that the New Testament was written in Greek and the autographs (original written records of the apostles and N. T. prophets) no longer exists. However, the thousands and thousands of copies make it possible to know what those original documents said.
I explained that the Bible has been translated from Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek into other human languages. I pointed out that the work of translation is a very exact and demanding endeavor.
I pointed out that the King James Bible of 1611 was not the first written record of God's word.
I pointed out that the KJV 1611 had major problems, which were corrected (to a great degree, over several editions).
I pointed out that there are obvious translation problems with the KJV, even today, such as translating PASSOVER as EASTER.
I also say that the KJV is one of the very best English translation available. It is my translation of choice with one other FORMAL TRANSLATION.
I also say that we can compare translations, word studies and ancient manuscripts, which allows us to eliminate known discrepancies.
Not only did God's word exist before 1611, it exists in other languages. Other people of the world have the word of God in their own language.
Unlike Islam, Christianity does not require that the Bible be read in the original languages or read in English or read in 1611 KJV English.
WE CAN REST ASSURED THAT WE HAVE GOD'S WORD, but we must not lose God's word by allowing any translation to replace the word of God.

04/10/19 Essential Questions
04/10/19 Essential Questions
Would you say that you are or that you are not a Christian?
If you said that you are a Christian, would you say that you know you are a Christian or that you think you are a Christian or that you hope you are a Christian?
If you said that you know you are a Christian, on what do you base that assertion?
Possible responses...
I was raised in a Christian home or church.
I have Christian parents, family.
I am not a terrible person or a terribly bad person.
I live (or try to live) by the 10 commandments.
I live by a high moral code.
I do good to my neighbor.
I am a religious person.
I am a spiritual person.
I am a good person.
I go to church.
I have been baptized.
I have taken holy communion.
I went to the front of the church and shook the preachers hand (or prayed at an altar).
I believe in God.
I was saved several years ago.
If your reason for thinking you are saved, that you are a Christian, that you are going to heaven is one of the points in the list above, I suggest you contact me asap.
I have much more to say, but I have to go to work.

A BRIEF COMMENT ON THE ETERNAL HOLINESS OF THE SON OF GOD.
04/10/19 A BRIEF COMMENT ON THE ETERNAL HOLINESS OF THE SON OF GOD
Jesus became SIN sacrifice and is full atonement for sin without ever being sinful or having sin.
Throughout Scripture, God is without sin, He is sinless, past, present and future.
The word, "sin" is used interchangeably in the Old Testament with the "sin sacrifice."
Jesus was sinless at birth, throughout life, in death, in the resurrection and always will be sinless.
Jesus came to take away our sins.
Jesus became, "sin," which should be understood as "SIN SACRIFICE." This is consistent with nature and revelation concerning the sacrificial life, death, and redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Jesus did not become actual sin by becoming the sin sacrifice. In His death, Jesus atoned for our sins, and He carried our sins away, without becoming defiled, corrupted, polluted, changed by our sin.
Acceptance of Jesus being the SIN SACRIFICE rather than becoming actual SIN does not contradict Scripture, or compromise the integrity of Christ being the sinless sacrifice, which continued to be sinless, even through His death.
Jesus became the SIN SACRIFICE in obedience to the Father. The Father would not have, could not have commanded that anyone become sin or a sinner, much less would He command His eternal and holy Son to become sin or a sinner.
Since Jesus became the SIN SACRIFICE in obedience to the Father, then it must be understood that Jesus would not submit to a command to become actual sin or an actual sinner.
Jesus went to the cross without sin, died on the cross without sin, ascended to the right hand of the Father without sin, intercedes for us without sin and will always be without sin.
I understand that popular theology does not agree with my point of view, and therefore I realize that I have friends who will not agree with this post and comment. That does not change my point of view. I still love those who disagree and I still think they may be saved. However, I hold to a view of Jesus that does not require Him to become sin or a sinner in order to save sinners. In fact, I believe that the corrupting of Jesus would have disqualified Him to be Savior. I hold a higher, and I believe more Biblical view, of the purity, integrity and immutability of Christ, Who is the same Yesterday, today and forever.
