02/24/19 WORSE THAN PROVIDING HELP?
Q. What's worse than a loving parent or pastor who offers insight, encouragement, correction?
A. A loving parent or pastor who doesn't offer.
It is not that the parent or pastor compromises, or does not care, but because the adult child or parishioner has closed the door of communication. Communication is a two way street. When one side is not listening, then the communication is over. It is a situation that is very close to, "casting pearls before swine," and may result in total separation.
It does not have to end in such negativity, and it can be rescued from such separation, provided the lines of communication, respect and humility are established.
