01/24/19 SAME BUT DIFFERENT

01/24/19 SAME BUT DIFFERENT

I remember a Marine in our church who whined about being "persecuted" for his faith at work, though it was just minor criticisms.

I don't doubt that he would have gone into the heart of a firefight, that he would have died in defense of his country, that he would have sacrificed his own life to save a fellow Marine. But standing up against the enemies of Christ, standing on Biblical principles is a different kind of courage, commitment, understanding.

There are Christians who will fight for some Biblical truth, at all costs. But those same people will fight against Biblical truth because it conflicts with their westernized, modernized view of salvation.

One of the problems with standing fast for Jesus is that the opposing wind and wave often comes from those who are the closest to us, whether through natural relationships or through salvation. In fact, other Christians can be our greatest deterrents to Christian faith and practice.

Not only should we stand firm, even when our enemy is our own loved ones, we must stand firm and love those who are attacking us.

IT IS A LIFE OF GRACE AND KNOWLEDGE.
