01/17/19 THE PASSAGES HAVE A PARTICULAR POINT

The Potter & clay passages address the intent & power of the Potter. The cause of the clay failure is addressed elsewhere.

IN FACT
Throughout the Bible the problem with the clay (mankind) is addressed. SIN, both inherent and enacted, are deterrents to God's redemptive will being fulfilled in any human life.

God has dealt with the SIN problem, both the nature of sin and the life of sinning. Through His death and resurrection Christ has defeated sin and made deliverance possible for whosoever will trust Him for forgiveness and cleansing.

God offers forgiveness, but the hearer must believe, repent, confess and follow Jesus. Likewise, God offers cleansing from the inherited nature of rebellion (the Old Man), which continues in the life of the regenerate. Again, it is up to the hearer, the believer, to trust Christ for cleansing and complete deliverance.

Any vessel (person) who do not trust Christ for deliverance from sins committed or sin inherited will be marred IN THE HANDS OF THE POTTER. It is not the Potters desire for the vessel to be marred. It is not because the Potter cannot redeem and reclaim and restore and restart a marred vessel, but rather that the vessel has chosen not to be transformed by the enabling power of the Potter.

As I mentioned, this is not the focus of the Potter passages. The entire Bible addresses the will and rebellion of those who are lost. The entire Bible points out that the willful sinner is answerable for his own sins. The entire Bible points out that we will all be judged according to our relationship with God and those who have resisted and rejected the will of God will be cast away from God forever.
