12/30/19 I DON'T SET THE STANDARD
12/30/19 I DON'T SET THE STANDARD
I've been told, "You set the bar too high."
Actually, I don't set the bar.
God sets the bar; I help folks reach His standards.
The "bar" is to be understood as the standards, requirements of God. I am not talking about rules, regulations, laws, good works, works of the flesh, which actually cannot save anyone. I am talking about the revelation, requirements of God for getting saved and living the Christian life (repentance, faith, confession, submission).
Don't let anyone fool you into thinking that salvation does not change us, enable us or require us to live a godly, Biblical life. All Christians are answerable for their own response to God's will. My job, as a worker with God, is to show other people God's plan of salvation and His provision for following that plan and instruct them in godliness.

While explaining "brotherly kindness," the preacher referred to a lady in his church, which he called, "uglier than a mud fence."
As youth camp counselors, my brother in law, Pastor Joe Kirby, and I were sitting on opposite sides, in the back of the large meeting hall. When the preacher made this shocking reference, Joe and I immediately looked at each other in total disbelief. The man just called his parishioner, UGLIER THAN A MUD FENCE, while he was preaching on BROTHERLY KINDNESS.
Sadly, I often hear or read people pontificate about salvific truths, by virtue signaling their own greatness, as they attack sincere Christians.
It is like people who use public "prayer requests" to gossip about people. They mislead people into blaspheming serious believers.
