God's word established and empowered the Church.
The Church preserves and propagates the word.

This seems self evident, but the fact is that major parts of the visible institutional church believes that the Church has the authority to interpret and adjust the meaning of the word according to social norms and supposed scientific discoveries.

The actual responsibility of the church is to accept, understand and explain the word of God to a changing world.
