04/15/19 OUR CONSTANT COMPANION, OUR LIFE'S BREATH

04/15/19 OUR CONSTANT COMPANION, OUR LIFE'S BREATH

Contrary to Formal religion, the Church is not the interpreter of the Bible: The Bible is the blueprint for the Church.

I know I have mentioned this in several different ways recently. But it cannot be overstated that churches and church organizations do not view the Bible as the authoritative word of God. They see the Bible as a pliable tool in the hands of the Church, adapting to a changing world.

I have great concern that family members will lose the proper faith, confidence, submission, truth in the Bible, simply by drifting slowly away from the love and relationship with God and His word.

I have watched this turning away take place in loved ones before. They still give lip service to the authority of the Bible, but they no longer live in the miraculous light of the Bible. The Bible does not feed them, refresh them, enlighten them, guide them, strengthen them, encourage them. They make choices and develop attitudes in the power of the flesh, rather than in the power of the Spirit. They have lost sensitivity to the urging and humbling influence of the word of God.

We get to the point of resisting and rejecting the authority and leading of the word of God by distancing ourselves from its companionship, day by day, week by week.

We ought not to simply pick up the word of God as a special tool to be used in special times. The Bible ought to be our constant companion, our moment by moment connection with God We ought to depend on the word of God for food, drink, life, our very breath. This is why we hide it in our hearts. So that it will be our very lifeblood and inner drive and desire.
