Those who are committed to Formal, Institutionalized Christendom feel justified in dismissing disagreeable passages.

The thing that makes this especially interesting is that some of these people are actually committed believers in Christ. Some of them are among the finest apologists for many orthodox doctrines of the Church.

However, they have been taught and they have bought into the idea that the corporate church, including the time of and following Constantine, is the sole interpreter of the Bible. Even when the Scriptures clearly state that which defies the teachings of the recognized doctors of the visible and institutionalized "church."

In fact, these people believe that the continued existence and the continuing success of the institutionalized "church" endorses and codifies the faulty interpretations and the anti-Christian actions and policies of the institutionalized "church." This is, of course, a malformed and aberrant expression of the true Church.

The argument against those who disagree with their usurped position is that they have the right through Apostolic Succession (either through a specific leader or through the continuing formal community) and anyone who disagrees with them is considered a heretic, who has left the teachings of "the church."
